Bluebird Puzzles: Promising Design – Disappointing Execution
Despite great artwork, Bluebird Puzzles are ultimately hampered by a loose fit and a blurry, grainy print that undercuts the assembly experience.

Bluebird Puzzles quickly gained attention for their affordable price, eco-friendly packaging, and wide selection of striking artwork. Based in France, their catalog features many pieces by renowned artists like Aimee Stewart and Ciro Marchetti. Unfortunately, while the external packaging promises quality, my experience with the puzzles fell short, primarily due to issues with the image resolution and piece fit.

Image Quality & Themes
While Bluebird features gorgeous artwork and is printed with an excellent matte finish (a definite pro for reducing glare), this is where my puzzle, Hidden Object Attic, didn’t meet expectations. The printing felt a bit off, with the finished image appearing blurry and grainy. For context, the same image is available from Buffalo Games, and seeing that version highlighted where Bluebird’s resolution fell short of being crisp and high-definition.
Bluebird’s strength lies in its wide selection of licensed art and themes, which is commendable. Their catalog is very diverse, ranging from 36 to 6,000 pieces, and includes works by renowned artists.
Themes commonly offered are:
Artistic Renderings (Featuring artists like Aimee Stewart and Ciro Marchetti)
Fantasy & Mythology
Nature & Wildlife
Pop Culture & Retro
✋ Hands On Experience
Bluebird Puzzles presents a visually appealing package, and the box art itself is crisp and inviting. Unfortunately, the puzzle inside didn’t match that promise—the image quality was too blurry to make assembling it truly enjoyable.
The packaging from Bluebird is quite attractive, and the box art itself is crisp and inviting. Unfortunately, the puzzle inside didn’t match that promise.
During assembly, I immediately noticed the piece fit was “loose-ish,” meaning the puzzle doesn’t lock together securely enough to be moved in large sections. Furthermore, the blurriness and lack of crispness in the print made the overall picture less satisfying to work on and ultimately detracted from the enjoyment.
My experience was further complicated when I reached out to the company for information about the print resolution; I was directed back to the reseller rather than being given a clear answer, which was quite disappointing.
Pros and Cons
✅ Pros (The Experience & Quality)
Matte Finish: Excellent for reducing glare.
Diverse Artwork: Features popular and renowned artists (Aimee Stewart, Ciro Marchetti).
Wide Piece Count Range: Offers puzzles from 36 to 6,000 pieces.
Made in France (Appeals to European/International manufacturers).
❌ Cons (Major Drawbacks)
Poor Image Resolution: The puzzle image was blurry and grainy compared to the box art, leading to a disappointing finish.
Loose Piece Fit: Pieces do not interlock securely.
Customer Service: Difficulty in getting a direct answer about print quality from the company.
No Reference Poster.
💡 Final Thoughts: The Verdict
No, I would not recommend Bluebird as a go-to brand for high-quality, satisfying puzzles.
While the box art is eye-catching, the issues with image resolution, the loose fit, and the underwhelming customer service make this brand hard to endorse for puzzlers seeking a premium experience.
For puzzlers who prioritize crisp, high-definition prints and a secure piece fit, other brands may be a better choice. (If you love the image, it is available from Buffalo Games under the name “Grandma’s Attic” and provides a much crisper image!)
